WELCOME TO TURKIS

In the heart of Aarhus, you’ll find the venue turkis – a vibrant cultural space rooted in the association det turkise telt, which for many years has been an integral part of the city’s diverse cultural life.

Here, you can immerse yourself in live concerts, move your body through African dance and tango, perform with improvised theatre, find your voice through songwriting and choir – or land softly in yoga and other emerging communities.

The music programme ranges from desert rock and afrobeat to throat singing and electronic folk experiments – music at the intersection of tradition and contemporary expression, which we call Roots&Hybrid.

With Persian rugs, soft cushions and draped fabrics in the ceiling, turkis is a sensorial meeting place where music, people and presence are woven together – a place where you can feel at home.

ACCESS & FACILITIES

At turkis, we create spaces where there is room for different needs, and ways of being present.

The venue has step-free access throughout the space, an accessible toilet, and free admission for companions.

There are limited paid parking options on Museumsgade. The parking area behind turkis may be used by organisers with a valid parking permit.

At our events, you are welcome to stand, sit, or lie down – depending on what your body needs. The wardrobe is included with your ticket.

Children up to and including the age of 12 are welcome free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

At the bar, we serve a selection of organic beverages, as well as Turkish tea and coffee.

We hope you’ll feel at home – and you are always welcome to ask us at the bar if there’s anything you need.
