Each song on Glemte Sange draws its lyrics from an old traditional ballad and brings it into a contemporary soundscape, where folk, indie pop and a touch of folk noir intertwine. The minimalist instrumentation and Nanna’s gentle, inviting voice stand in sharp contrast to the confrontational, quirky and at times macabre lyrics. This tension between tenderness and brutality creates an intimate, vibrant space at her concerts, drawing the audience deep into the stories.

It all began 20 years ago, when Nanna discovered a dusty book collection from 1853 in a library basement: twelve heavy volumes filled with old Danish folk ballads. The lyrics stayed with her and have since become the driving force behind her songwriting.

There is something raw, poetic and unfiltered about Danish singer-songwriter Nanna Bech, whom GAFFA has described as an artist who “serves up grand songs in modest disguises”.

Joining her on stage are multi-instrumentalist Laue Bech, percussionist and singer Mette Marie Jensen Ørnstrup, and singer Annamarie Roselil Søndergaard.

Whether you are an experienced dancer or have never tried it before, you are more than welcome to join. We will learn simple steps, dance to joyful music and create a wonderful atmosphere together.
