FREE WORKSHOP | ARTIST/PRODUCT??? | LIENE
NXT LVL AARHUS
turkis and NXT LVL Aarhus invite young artists and musicians to take part in a free workshop programme designed to strengthen the independence of emerging artists working without the support of a record label.
"Showing Up as Yourself: On art, identity, and not fitting in a box"
What does it actually mean to put yourself out there - as an artist, a DJ, an organiser - when "you" are both the work and the “thing” being sold? And what if you're not just one “thing”?
Liene has spent years on both sides of this. She's booked artists, run festivals, directed a cultural centre hosting 300 events a year. She's also a DJ, curator, performing artist, ritualist - and it took time to find ways to express and talk about all of that without flattening it into something just sellable. She's experimented with different channels of promoting her work - a website, Instagram channels, newsletter, not-your-typical business card - and learned, slowly, how to do it her way.
The workshop will be part honest conversation, part practical work. We'll map what you actually care about - the stuff that makes you want to make things in the first place - and explore how that can become the foundation of how you present yourself, rather than something you compromise to fit a box.
What if the complexity is the point?
This workshop is not intended to give you perfect answer but rather a clearer head about the tension we experience as creators, and some tools to work with it.
