SHARED READING

What connects us to people we have never met? What stories do we carry with us, and what communities are we part of without always noticing them? Together, we will explore these questions and a range of themes through “Invisible Connections”, a series of Shared Reading sessions at turkis.

Together with reading guide Weronika, we will take slow, shared steps into texts that reveal the invisible connections between people, places and the small moments that might otherwise disappear in the rush of everyday life. Amid the noise of the city, we will create a small literary breathing space where we can read, listen and talk together.

Taking part in a Shared Reading session requires no preparation or knowledge of literature – only curiosity and an open mind. The texts are carefully selected and read aloud by the reading guide, and the conversation emerges naturally from what we experience in our encounter with the literature.

Come as you are – and perhaps leave with a new perspective on your surroundings and the people you share them with.

The event is free, but registration is required by sending a text to Weronika: 22 56 93 32

The sessions will take place in the afternoon, approximately every other Monday at turkis.

Everyone is welcome.

ABOUT SHARED READING

Shared Reading is a method developed to create shared experiences of literature through live reading in small groups. Each session is led by a reading guide and alternates between reading aloud and conversation.

No preparation is required. The method focuses on the feelings and thoughts that arise spontaneously as the text is being read. The conversation is based on each person’s individual reading experience and the life experiences they bring to their understanding of the text – rather than any previous academic knowledge of literature. Everyone can take part.

ABOUT LÆSEFORENINGEN

Læseforeningen is a civil society organisation working at the intersection of literature, mental health promotion and social development. Its purpose is to bring literature to where it can make a difference and to create strong reading communities for people from all walks of life and across social backgrounds.

Læseforeningen has a particular focus on including people in vulnerable life situations and works across sectors to establish reading groups wherever people can come together.
