After having to cancel in 2025, INSTINKT is now back and ready to perform for you – and they promise a truly powerful concert experience.

The evening begins at 19:30 with an opening performance by the Folk Music Orchestra from Aarhus Music School, led by Bodil Frimodt Rønnow.

The concert is supported by the City of Aarhus and the Danish Arts Foundation.

INSTINKT

INSTINKT is a unique, contemporary and vibrant ensemble on the Danish music scene, who captivated audiences worldwide in the 2000s with their engaging and electrifying live performances.

With passion, creativity, humour and intensity, INSTINKT gives the folk music tradition new life and wings – reflecting today’s intercultural diversity, openness and possibilities. Their album “Hur” won four awards at the Danish Music Awards Folk 2003 and received widespread critical acclaim.

The band has also received a prestigious live award in Germany and most recently released the album “Grum”.

All members of INSTINKT have a strong background in Danish and Nordic folk traditions. Some are also deeply inspired by Irish and French-Canadian folk music, and all have explored a wide range of other genres. In the meeting between these traditions and experiences, a distinctive musical hybrid emerges – rooted in the spirit and language of folk music, often referred to as “folkbeat”.

Their music experiments with light melodies over heavy grooves, rich soundscapes, expressive wordless vocals, challenging harmonies, masculine poetry and feminine power. INSTINKT’s unique style and sound are defined by an exciting instrumentation including strings, hurdy-gurdy, Jew’s harp, flutes, bass and drums – as well as other surprising sound sources. The musicians have previously been part of bands such as Moving Cloud, Kætter Kvartet, Impotators and Sorten Muld.
