JULIA BENGTSON + GEO PJÄSERNA

Julia Bengtson moves between Nordic folk music and contemporary Swedish pop – a space where fragility and strength, restlessness and presence exist side by side. Geo Pjäserna explores folk-jazz through percussive guitar, vibrant interplay, and a punk-infused attitude inspired by the enigmatic landscapes of Mols.

JULIA BENGTSON

Julia Bengtson is a musician and artist whose work is defined by curiosity, introspection, and a touch of restlessness. She navigates a life full of contrasts and contradictions, always observing the world around her with a blend of intimacy and detachment.

Her music weaves together the rich traditions of the Nordic folk music with the modern influences of Swedish pop, with a focus on the friction that is so clearly present in the everyday life she portrays. In her songs, the grand and the intimate, the fragile and the resilient, the simple and the complex all coexist, in a new yet natural way.

Bengtson's work balances playfulness with seriousness, offering a unique blend of folk and pop that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Known for her scene presence and musical curiosity, Julia Bengtson is dedicated to perform her music the same way as we tell stories; not one time is the same.

GEO PJÄSERNA

Immersive and intense folk-jazz. A trio consisting of writer and guitarist Rasmus Theisen, cellist Asbjørn Elle, and drummer Jakob De Place. Together they explore the possibilities of folk-jazz through a powerful blend of percussive guitar, cinematic melodies, and vibrant, dynamic interplay. Their music draws inspiration from the enigmatic landscapes of Mols, contemporary folk traditions, and a distinctly punk attitude.

Geo Pjäserna was founded by childhood friends Theisen and Elle. The group often collaborates with guest musicians, and for this concert they are joined by drummer Jakob De Place. Since their debut in 2022, Geo Pjäserna has worked with a range of artists, including Goss, where their distinctive interplay between guitar and cello has brought an intimate and captivating sound to numerous performances.

Earlier this summer, the band released their second album — also created on Mols — in collaboration with composer and trumpeter Jakob Buchanan.

“Julia’s singing is very emotional and strong, and the wordless singing makes the world slow dance with the tones in my stomach; it is truly sweet and magical.”
