LISTENING CLUB WITH SABS
Following the success of our listening clubs this spring, SABS Selector and turkis once again invite you to four listening clubs this season. Here, the music is given space to unfold in its entirety – with time to listen, reflect and talk about instruments, sounds, moods and stories.
TODAY’S THEME
Focus: Noura Mint Seymali at turkis on 8 October
Theme: Women, roots and instruments
Noura Mint Seymali from Mauritania will perform at turkis on 8 October. She received the WOMEX Artist Award 2025 in recognition of her life’s work. We will listen to her latest album, Yenbett (2025), where traditional Mauritanian music meets a modern, psychedelic sound.
We will also listen to Aziza Brahim from Western Sahara, now based in Barcelona, who sings and plays the tabal, as well as Welsh musician Cerys Hafana on the triple harp.
Three women, three traditions and three instruments: the ardîn, the tabal and the triple harp.
Free tea, coffee and snacks will be served.
