PUIGORNASINGA - GLEM OS IKKE

ULLORISSAT AALBORG & ANGELS SINGS PROJECT

First it was a country, then it became a colony, and now it is a country once again. Through a grand lecture concert combining the sweet, the salty, the powerful, and the beautiful, we journey across 4,500 years of Greenlandic history through drum dancing, choral singing, and musical performances by renowned artists from Greenland and abroad.

Through music and storytelling, Jennifer Angel Winther shares the story of the resilient Inuit people, tracing their transformation from a people living in close connection with nature to life in a modern society—with both its gains and its losses. She explores how Inuit identity, deeply shaped by its own traditions and upbringing, differs from European cultures, while offering insight into both what has been lost and what has been gained through the introduction of Christianity, existing side by side with the Sea Mother, Sassuma Arnaa, and the ancient spiritual traditions of the angakkuit (shamans).

"Who are we today? Many of us live in Denmark. And we have our rights as Inuit living in Denmark."

The project aims to strengthen awareness, understanding, and collaboration between the Nordic countries and Greenlanders living in Denmark. Greenlanders in Denmark hold great potential and should not be forgotten by their homeland simply because they live in their second homeland.

ULLORISSAT AALBORG

Ullorissat is based at Vor Frue Church in Aalborg and was founded on 9 March 2022 by Jennifer Angel Winther and Vittus Pîvât. The choir's primary purpose is to serve as the permanent choir for Greenlandic church services in North Jutland under Catechist Ove Poulsen.

The choir provides choral singing at all church ceremonies, particularly funerals and memorial services, free of charge. Everyone—regardless of wealth or social circumstances, including those experiencing homelessness—deserves a beautiful farewell accompanied by choral music according to their wishes and needs.

For everyday performances, the choir wears a modern uniform of white shirts, black waistcoats, and blue jeans. During concerts, including the Project Angels Sings performances, the choir appears in traditional Greenlandic national dress.

The choir consists of:

Jennifer Angel Winther – Chairwoman, soprano, composer, lyricist, and founder of Ullorissat
Marie Møller-Lynge – Vice Chair and alto
Anine Rantala – Alto
Sofie Josefsen – Alto
Vittus Pîvât – Board member, tenor, and co-founder
Rona Storch – Soprano and chair of Neriusaaq Aarhus

For Puigornasinga, the choir is joined by some of Greenland's leading artists:

John Cortzen Rasmussen – producer and drummer
Peter Møller-Lynge ("QulleQ")
Karo – internationally acclaimed vocalist, known as The Voice of Poland
Sanda Ignatiussen – traditional drum dancer
