RASMUS DISSING & FLAMENCO LEGENDERNE
DEN TURKISE HAVE
World College – KRIATURA Flamenco Festival invites you to a festival day at turkis, where live music, paella, flamenco, the legendary wines of Jerez, and community come together.
The highlight of the day is a concert with Rasmus Dissing & The Flamenco Legends – an intense musical encounter between the Danish song tradition and some of Spain’s most celebrated flamenco artists. On stage, the raw energy, rhythms, and improvisational spirit of flamenco meet the rich heritage of Danish songs in a concert filled with living cultural traditions.
The event is presented in collaboration with Jerez – Spain’s Gastronomic Capital 2026.

PAELLA, FLAMENCO AND THE WINES OF JEREZ
As an important part of the day, guests will have the opportunity to purchase a seafood paella prepared by Thorbjørn Carl Hjalager using wines from Jerez. For the past ten years, Thorbjørn has been cooking for KRIATURA Flamenco Festival in Jerez de la Frontera and has developed a deep expertise in the region’s distinctive wines and gastronomic traditions.
The wines of Jerez give the paella its unique character. Before the concert, we will also open the sherry bar, offering tastings and sherry-based drinks that challenge common perceptions of sherry – a wine often described as Europe’s most underrated.
Workshops, meditation, food, and jam sessions are not standalone headline events but part of the festival atmosphere that unfolds around the concert.
KIRSTINE HASTRUP AND THE CONNECTION TO JEREZ
At the heart of KRIATURA Flamenco Festival is flamenco dancer Kirstine Hastrup, official Flamenco Ambassador of Jerez de la Frontera and founder of Spain’s first flamenco festival for children and young people.
The event is created in collaboration with Jerez de la Frontera – Spain’s Gastronomic Capital 2026. Jerez is a city where flamenco, gastronomy, and local wine are woven into the very fabric of daily life.
There is a special connection between flamenco and the wines of Jerez. Both emerge from the same soil, the same history, and the same cultural heritage. In Andalusia, people say that through the wines of Jerez, you can taste flamenco – and listen to the wine.
AN ARTISTIC LEGACY FROM POVL DISSING TO RASMUS DISSING
Behind this concert lies the artistic journey that Kirstine Hastrup and Povl Dissing began in Jerez de la Frontera during Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017 through the project "The World Beneath Your Feet".
It was here that the encounter between Povl Dissing, Rasmus Dissing, and flamenco artists from Jerez de la Frontera evolved into the ensemble Rasmus Dissing & The Flamenco Legends, where flamenco entered into dialogue with the Danish song tradition and Nordic musical storytelling.
Today, this legacy continues through Rasmus Dissing in a renewed meeting between flamenco, Danish song traditions, Nordic roots music, folk high school culture, and living cultural heritage.
