VOKS | TEATER KILD MIG
TEATERHØJSKOLEN RØDKILDE
VOKS is a performance about wanting to fly, even when you know you might fall. About the fear of failure - and the fear of never trying at all.
VOKS draws on the myth of Icarus to explore humanity’s urge to transcend itself. A reinterpretation and reworking of the myth, VOKS centres on human hubris and the capacity for restraint, as Icarus’ ambition is ultimately punished.
The performance examines our contemporary relationship with ambition, escapism, self-creation, and delusions of grandeur - in a search for something that feels greater than the life we have been given.
With wings of wax, the characters reach upwards - towards the light, towards freedom, towards the moon. They dream of creating a new world, becoming their own heroes, and leaving behind something greater than themselves.
But where is the line between hope and hubris?
Behind VOKS is the group Teater Kild Mig, the theatre project group from Teaterhøjskolen Rødkilde.
