SONGS OF TRANSITION | ENSEMBLE ADVENA + RIGÓ
Ensemble Advena
Join us at turkis to celebrate All Hallows Day as Ensemble Advena and Rigó choir invite you to an immersive concert experience, weaving together vocal folk music, installation, and audio documentary.
Songs of Transition is a concert-installation that explores death as a shared human condition, a transition, and a mystery - while also marking the cyclical turning of the year towards winter.
The concert unfolds through a song cycle of traditional songs in various languages, each addressing death from a different perspective. The musicians of Ensemble Advena and turkis' very own amateur choir, Rigó, will—both individually and together—interpret songs and laments from regions including Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, and Georgia.
In the spaces between the music, we hear the voices of interviewees sharing their experiences with death and loss, as well as reflections on love and connection that transcend death.
As an audience member, you are also invited to contribute a personal memento to the installation that surrounds us during the concert. If you have a small object, a photograph, or something from nature that you would like to add to the installation, you are very welcome to bring it along (you will, of course, take it home with you afterwards).
